Metropolitan Cooperative Library System (MCLS) is an association of 33 public libraries located in the greater Los Angeles area which cooperate in providing library service to the residents of all participating jurisdictions. MCLS wanted a new, easy-to-use website that would facilitate the sharing of information and resources between the member libraries. CraftySpace designed and developed a new website for MCLS that provides the capability for staff at each library to keep information about their library and its resources up-to-date, allowing library stakeholders and the public to find what's available throughout the network.

AltadenaLibrary.org
Altadena Library District provides library services to over 50,000 people of Altadena, an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. CraftySpace designed a structured, elegant website that reflects the charm and character of the region. The site also has special sections especially for kids and teens, and provides useful and up-to-date information to the library's board of directors. CraftySpace technology makes it easy for the library staff to keep their site up to date.

They needed a new website to support that vision, and chose CraftySpace technology and service as their technology partner to fill that need. Not for Profit Organization Websites

SCORE.org
SCORE is a branch of the Small Business Association, pairing retired executive counselors with small businesses. CraftySpace built a custom content management system (CMS) for SCORE that allowed them to make on-demand updates to their website without any specialized technical knowledge. The system also helped them to maintain a consistent look and feel throughout all of their site's pages. The SCORE CMS is currently being used by the National SCORE organization as well as over 80 SCORE chapters nationwide. (produced in cooperation with True Interactive)

NCDemocracy.org
The National Center for the Preservation of Democracy is a non-profit, non-partisan educational institution that provides tools for living democratically in a diverse American society. Our job was to help the National Center fulfill its mission by reaching a wider audience, enabling educators to share democracy education lesson plans, keeping members informed about events, and showcasing student films through the incorporation of video. (produced in cooperation with Panergi, Inc.)

WIPP.net
Women in Periodical Publishing was formed to educate, empower and support women in print and online publishing. Being able to use a content management system (CMS) to easily update their content was the most important concern for WIPP. CraftySpace also created a consistent look for the site and integrated WIPP's CMS with third party newsletter sending and donation processing services.

Green Village Green was founded to help connect people with green builders in their area and find articles on the latest technology and information in the green world today, for the purpose of promoting a sustainable lifestyle. Their new website includes a full-service directory search, an integrated newsletter, and other great features, to make joining the green building community easy and fun.

Learn2Foster/Learn2Adopt is part of a project to recruit foster and adoptive parents in three Northern California counties. Its purpose is to be the home to an online community, a place where foster parents can come together to trade views, share stories, learn from veteran foster parents, and answer each other's questions. For this project, CraftySpace joined forces with another community-minded software design company, SocialSignal, to create a website to support Learn2Foster's mission, with expert blogs, forum posts and shared county information.

Motiv8you.com
Aaron Clouden created Motiv8You to be “the ultimate health and fitness community.” CraftySpace built a Web 2.0 application for Motiv8You which allows users to:

  • Create a personal profile including photo, health goals, list of fitness activities, and times available to exercise
  • Search a database for exercise partners by geographic location and by matching health goals
  • Communicate with other users through a robust internal messaging system
  • Keep an online health journal which can be shared with friends or kept private

Multimedia Websites

DirtTheMovie.org
DIRT! The Movie is an upcoming feature length documentary which tells the truly amazing story of humans and the soil. CraftySpace created a website to showcase the making of the film and provide a forum for environmental education and activist opportunities. Highlights of this project include a Flash-based intro and navigation, integrated video clips and a searchable filmmaker's blog.

Café Mam coffee is grown by fair trade cooperatives of native Mayan farmers living in the highlands of Chiapas, Mexico and Guatemala, and sold in stores and cafes across the United States. Now with their online store seamlessly integrated into their new CraftySpace website, everyone can enjoy their delicious organic coffee and other goodies anywhere in the world!

Northwest-Marketplace.com
Northwest-Marketplace brings their customers an ever growing assortment of innovative, beautiful and earth-friendly products produced by craftspeople and independently owned businesses in the Pacific Northwest. CraftySpace worked with Zen Cart, a powerful open source e-commerce solution to build this storefront. Now Northwest-Marketplace can easily track inventory, update content and products, handle all processing of online sales, including follow-up communications with customers, and more.

For the DesignAShirt site, we created a powerful Flash-based application that integrates with an administrator's tool for managing designs, customers, and order fulfillment. As architects, builders and landscape specialists, Habitats is dedicated to balancing human needs with the complex fabric of the environment through intelligent, responsible and aesthetically pleasing design and construction. CraftySpace built an interactive online portfolio website for Habitats to showcase their exceptional work. The new site is easily kept up to date and is intuitive for the site's visitors to navigate.

BikeFriday.com
Bike Friday produces and sells an internationally-loved line of folding bicycles. They have a large and complex website that has grown organically to include community features, hundreds of media articles and customer reviews, and of course a bundle of information about their bicycles and accessories. In phase one of this ambitious project, CraftySpace migrated Bike Friday's existing website to our content management system. Now Bike Friday's staff can easily update their site. In the next phase, we'll make it even easier for the site's many devoted visitors to both find what they're looking for, and participate in the Bike Friday community.
